The 2016 Cambria County Camp Cadet Program will be held from July 31, 2016 to August 6, 2016
Cambria County Camp Cadet would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. William "Bill" Stewart, who passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2016.
Bill is the father of Trooper Patrick Stewart, who you may remember, passed away suddenly in May 2015.
As they did with Patrick, the Stewart Family has generously requested that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Cambria and Somerset County Camp Cadet Programs.
Please keep his wife Kathryn "Kitty", his son Chris, and all of the Stewart Family and Friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time!
CAMP CADET IS NOT A BOOT CAMP AND IS NOT A SOLUTION FOR DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS WITHIN THE HOME OR SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT.
Camp Cadet is a summer camp for boys and girls from Pennsylvania between the ages of twelve to fifteen. The Cambria County Camp Cadet is held at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA and the camp is staffed by Troopers and other volunteers. The goal of Camp Cadet is to introduce participants to the diverse criminal justice system and establish an early, positive relationship with law enforcement personnel.
Cambria County Camp Cadet is open to all youth residing in Cambria County and is structured similar to training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. All participants who attend Camp Cadet are addressed as “Cadet” during the week and all cadets are required to participate in all scheduled events during the week. The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, and many issues facing today’s youth.
Camp Cadet is a non-profit organization. Meals, Lodging and Programs are all provided at no cost to the cadets or their families. The only costs that may be accrued are for items that will be required to bring to camp, such as clothing, etc. Camp Cadet is funded by fund raisers and business and community donations. As a result, children from all social and economic backgrounds have the opportunity to attend the camp at minimal cost to them or their parents.
